Tarapoto trip

Cute, cheap manicure at the end of our trip!

Cocoa beans drying in the sun. The chocolate made here is delicious!

A red walking stick. :)

Ants hard at work. The really big ones with the tan heads were herding the little ones and wouldn't let them get out of line.

Beautiful jungle

Relaxing for a moment in a hammock by a jungle lake

The boy taking us out in the boat took advantage of an opportunity to buy some fish....Talapia... They weren't supposed to be catching those fish or buying them; he told us that himself. Evidently they are trying to re-stock the lake. So much for that rule!

This is a jump the Peruvian military uses in training.

The river (in the back of the picture) and the road we drove on (in the front part of the picture)

This was the raft that would take our car to the other side. These men with machine guns got off of the raft and walked around as if they were afraid someone was after them. It was a little scary...

BEAUTIFUL blue and green!

I'm in the dark green shirt behind the water fall. Can you see me?

Our shower...no, no hot water.

Our hotel room, $5 a night....yes, if you slept here you would understand why. :)

Jungle fish and jungle food in general is delicious!!! This was a fish called paiche. It is a huge freshwater fish.

The water was so cold. We are standing on the rock, but you had to swim to this spot because it is very deep right in front of us.

We rode in the back of a truck most of our time in the jungle.

Our hotel lobby.

In the plane at the beginning.
